I seek a reliable facility, where I may send backups of files and systems, via the internet.

I personally use box.net. You get 1GB free storage and then you can pay if you want more space. You can send pictures you want to be stored in your account by email and they will be uploaded on to your account, and it gives you a link for anything you upload.
