I'm sorry but ftp is your best and fastest option. Had this prob a few weeks ago and tried like 5-6 different methods and ended up just installing a simple ftp server on one of the comps and downloading everything to the other..

I know a free program for remote desktop access with a feature called file transfer but I don't know if you can transfer 5 gb.The one who controls the desktop will need to download the full version and the other one the customer module. You don't even need to install anything. The customer module and the full version should run both at the same time, and the one with the customer module should tell you the id and the password to connect. The web page is http://www.teamviewer.com/index.aspx
It will pass through any firewall or router.
