We just moved in a month ago. It’s been hell here. Everything has broken down because it’s hot as hell. The AC runs all day and never gets cooler than 89 degrees. The faucet had no pressure. The fridge died and leaked oil everywhere. The washer stopped working.
Then to make matters worse, the maintenance people just show up at my door. Either that or they leave a message when they know I’m in the pool and have strange men come in without permission. I came back once wet from the pool to find men standing in my doorway making a hole in the ceiling for the AC. It stopped dripping after they changed out the filter. We changed batteries every other day to keep it running cool. Now it doesn’t work at all and the electric bill is $250+!!!
Another thing. The garage door motor went out and remotes didn’t work. Then they won’t fix the key pad as a backup. My husband was late to work twice at a new job and was considered a flake. They also referred my husband’s garage to a “man cave” because his motorcycle is in there and he can’t use it now.
What are out rights? Can’t we sue them if they come in without our permission? They said the AC people will be back, but they didn’t say when. I’m afraid of being indesposed when they come barging in because it’s so hot in here I’m miserable.
One more thing… there have been some different people here and they said they were auditors. I saw a group of 9 business men here today looking at the place. You can’t tell me they are all auditors for this little apartment complex. I’m worried that they are going condo (conversion). We used to live in this area before and we had to finish out our lease while they did that. They were trying to sell the apartments for twice as much with no upgrades. The guy that signed us up conveniently doesn’t work here anymore. He told us they weren’t going condo, but now I’m worried he fed us a line to get us in.
Indiposed means naked right and I like the new hairdo. This is something I know to much about. Don’t pay only if you can prove damages like things were promised to you and were not delivered. Read your lease because it will tell you what rights you have under that contract there is also fair housing dept can tell you in more detail. Yeah I had strange maintenece guys playing with my girl’s panties before, complain say you want to be notified in writing anytime a repair is needed and no one enters if your not home. If they don’t accuse them of stealing and watch how quick you get a discount. Most importantly move out if you don’t like it and rent a house yes more work more expensive but it’s the best thing I’ve ever done I’ve had landlords tow my car call the cops on me. Now I only see my nosy neighbors good luck and when you do leave make sure you have an exit inspection because that’s how they screw up your credit and not give your deposit back.

honestly, fuk this place and move out… it is not worth your time to sue him, you dont wana go through all the court trail and everything. but do call the police next time when they enter without permission and make the landlord’s life living hell until you move out from here…
this is what you should do, make up a list of things that went wrong, give your landlord a call and tell him to fix all this (i hope you didnt pay him the post dated checks) and if the list is not fixed DONT PAY HIM, he will have to go through the court to get you out… trust me as a landlord this is not fun
make his life living hell for next month or 2 until you find a proper place to live!!!
if i were you, i would be moving out of that peace of ****, you call an apartment. and you know they can’t do that to you if those things are broken you are supposed to tell them, and they have to fix it. and that is so against the law that they are doing that anyway you do need to take them to court.
